Brown Spots On Leaves...

I was hoping it isn't the lighting... but it probably is...
Light: 1WPG (installing a new tube as soon as I find a cheap starter)
Ferts: rehydrated powder (Jungle Juice)
DiY CO2 (2 diffusers, 10litres of yeast mix)

Looks like a nutrient deficiency to me, Ive grown swords in a similar set up to yours with low light, with no problems. You might find some root tabs work, swords like having nutrient around their roots.

Cheap Starter you say? I found them to be cheapest on this site if you're in UK. :good:

Iron Deficiency causes brown spots on Amazon sword leaves. Try adding nutrients to the water and feeding with root tabs. That cleared up a similar I had in early days with my planted tank. :good:

Very odd... the plant is in (almost) pure laterite, with a thin layer of fine gravel over it. It gets fed daily with powder ferts, which to the best of my knowledge, contains chelated iron.

I'll try adding a light for a few days, and pump in more ferts... Lets see what happens...

Thanks!
Michele

Laterite is also 100% iron so wont provide much else. What fert you adding? Some of them are also just iron and potassium so you could be lacking something like boron or manganese. Seachem flouris has all the required trace elements.

I'm adding a powder fert I bought off eBay called "Jungle Juice". I didn't feel confident mixing my own powder ferts. Looks wise its green, and the powder seems to have some stuff I used to put on my lawn which is blueish/green in color, along with other white and brown powders. To be frank, I have no idea whats in it :p When this is finished I plan to experiment with mixing my own powders...

Sat I'm going to buy some root tabs and hope that helps...
Michele

Root tabs are an excellent idea, the seachem ones are good but can be expensive. Check the ingredients list to see what they contain, get one that got lots of trace element in it :)
