I guess my new little brown spike tail paradise fish are really settling in. I've only had them for about a week and today I lifed the lid and saw a nice little bubble nest built under some of the live plants on the surface. I'm really excited. I wonder if this means they are ready to breed?

I think the harlequins will snatch up their eggs though :/

Congrats! Any chance of posting some pics?

How do they get along with the harlequins?

I just bought an albino paradise and I'm wondering what tankmates are compatible.

I put up some pictures in the pictures section last night here's a link : http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=97794

storm - Do you have these kinds of paradise fish or the regular kind? These guys are very small ..and arn't aggressive at all. I heard the normal paradise fish can be quite aggressive. Mine dont even notice the harlequins. The harlequins stay in the upper part of the tank whereas the spike tails stay more towards the middle of the tank and the bottom. :)

If it's an 'albino paradisefish' it's not the spiketailed fish being discussed in this thread. In fact, it is almost deffinately is macropodus opercularis.

What size tank is it in? If it is just one alone in a 30 gallon, for example, a school of harlequin rasboras should be fine with it.

Avoid any tankmates that are prone to being nipped or any othe gouramies unless you are certain they are compatible. Knowing the sex of your paradisefish would also be helpful. The tank size, water parameters and current tankmates would make it possible to suggest what you can keep with it more precisely.

Males, BTW, have longer fins and brighter colors.

If you have this fish in anything under a 20 gallon and it has fishy tankmates, be prepaired for trouble.

Elisabeth83 - Lovely pics. I love the blue-rimmed fins. They are such beautiful little fish and yours look very healthy as well.
