I posted photos of the algae in my tank can anyone help to identify it.
The colour seems to go from a light brown to dark brown.
If I use a brush it is impossible to scoop up all the floating bits they sink to the substrate.
If these attach to plants rock or wood will they continue to grow.

Brush the algae off before water changes then hoover it away with your gravel vac.
It will grow when it has food and light.

Have you any live plants in your tank? Live plants will outcompete the algae for food.
How long are your lights on for? Too much light will encourage the algae to grow.

Thanks.
The tank is well planted and the lights are on for 8 hours.
The tank is still cycling.
I tested the water yesterday.
Ammonia 0+
Nitrate 5-10
Nitrate 0
ph 6.4-6.6 (a little low maybe)?
The tank has been cycling for 2 weeks and generally speaking things look OK apart from the algae.
