Hi,

Have noticed today that there is this brown stuff arrived in my tank.
Not sure if it's agae ir something else, but it was NOT there yesterday.
It's on all the rocks and ornaments and have just noticed it on some of the gravel too.

Can anyone help?

that is Diatoms, it's caused by ammonia spikes. They are harmless, they are almost inevitable in new set-ups. They will disappear eventually, they are easily wipe off-able. Amano shrimp love them as do Otos.

thanks, but I don't have an ammonia spike. Do tests every 2 days and consistently getting between 0-0.25 ammonia, 0 nitrite and between 40-80ppm Nitrate (high Nitrate out of tap).
PH consistently 8.0

The fish seem to be trying to eat it, all are absolutely fine.

No live plants.
Lights on between 7-8am. Then between 3-9pm.
