Brown Algae..... Again

It seemed my brown algae problem went away for a week but it came back stronger then before.
Is there any way to get rid of this stuff? I've used my algae magnet to scrape it off the glass, but
the ornaments in my aquarium are completely brown

is tank situated near a window<direct sunlight?
maybe you have to much overhead lighting<i have similar prob with my jewel tank....algae all time brown and green and even red
clean clean clean....move away from dircet sunlight and cut down on light time

I have a window in my bedroom but It doesnt get all that much light.
What would you suggest on hrs of lighting per day none of my tanks are planted

i thaught thqt brown algea was caused through not enough light and too much ammonia?? if im wrong please tell me. i dont want to be living a lie. lol

I always heard here that brown algae is from not enough light so I've started keeping my lighting system a lot more and there's been no difference whatsoever. I'm not much help but if you find anything that works I'd love to hear it, I'm sick of having to constantly clean all my plants etc

if u have enough room get a flying fox algea eater. i got one and i tell you it was teh bvest choice i have ever made. tehy'll eat all types of algea.

Add more plants to out complete the aglae for its food.it work for my plant tank.But theres a hole heap on info on your problem right here in this site and i think there's a pinned topic some where.

Ditto on this. Also, IJ'd think about getting a plecostomus. I have brown algae in my 55 gallon. I got a cleaner crew, 1 pleco and 2 mystery snails...Honestly, once this cleaning is done this week, I may just be doing water changes only. I'm hoping. I just have to clean up some of the stuff they have been pushing around, and have piled up for me to get rid of. Yeah, they create the trash piles....I remove them. LOL
