Brought new female fighter yesterday and already she has been biting my male betta !

So tomorrow I will return her to the pet shop and exchange her for a different female or ask for my money if they can!

Please research before buying your fish. If you aren't breeding, males and females will kill each other if in the same tank. Any betta will do that, and you will find yourself out of luck by trying to find a pair of bettas that can live with each other. They need their own seperate tanks. If you are breeding, you can't just buy two bettas and stick them in the same tank. You need two weeks, minimum, of conditioning. You also should not breed petstore bettas, as there are enough already.

 I had a male and a female live together peicefully once. But then again they where blind and I knew nothing about Betta fish :hyper: So I suggest do not try it :good:

As others have mentioned, males and females should not be kept together. Even if you do find a pair that go together, it won't take long for the aggression to show and you end up with stressed and severely nipped fish.

im sure my lfs is magic ive had 3 sucessfull male and female bettas living together now and non that havent

The question is Tom, how long did they successfully live together, what size tank and how old are/were they?

I was told only a couple of weeks ago in a pet shop by the assistant that he has a male and female together in a community tank. I just said "nice" and walked off. I sometimes get fed up with explaining.
