Brother spit in tank

Well see, I usually do the 'non-sucking method' -the one that uses the forces of gravity to siphon, but I was filling a 50 gallon tank accross the house with water from my 30g and 20g (doing renovations to the fish room and fish need a temperary new home)-- my 'water vacuume' that I usually use is way too short, so I was using a bran new garden hose to try and fill it up, only it didn't work (probably because it needed the Ventury effect or something of the like). To try to get it going, my brother sucked on the end and instead of spitting in the bucket, he spat in the tank!

(we ended up just filling my fish bucket with the ordinary siphon and dumping it in the tank)

If we had no gravity on earth, and sucking was the only way to do maintain fish tanks, I probably wouldnt have fish. Its a good thing we had gravity here. But I guess if we had no gravity, Aquariums wouldnt really work to good would they.lol

I have never had to suck up water to start a gravel cleaner! All I do with mine is put it in the water, move it up and down, and it starts up. Its so easy!

You don't really have to move it up and down. The movement that gets the water flowing is the forward movement. Kinda like scooping the water up. I've never done that method, but therotically it should work.
