Hi All, Our Bronze Corys have just laid approx 200+ Eggs on the glass of the tank, We do not have the tank to move them in on their own so are going to just have to wait and see how we go :)
Cannot upload any pictures because they are too big and i have no idea how to make them smaller :/

Cory fry will rarely survive in a community tank, and that's if the fish don't eat the eggs first. So you need to move them to another tank if you want them to hatch and grow.

As for pictures, open an account with photobucket or imageshack, upload the pictures there and then post the links to them here.

Thanks ill have to make an account with one of those then, and yes i didnt think they had much chance but i have no other option atm, am definately going to get set up for next time round though. Do I need a tank to transfer them too or can i just use a container. oh and the eggs have been there all day now and no fish is showing any interest in them at all :)

You can setup a container inside the tank itself that gets enough water flow from the tank via holes or such. Put some sand at the bottom and some live plants and the little corys can spend some time in there before you setup a tank for them to grow. Make sure the holes are tiny because the babies are really small. It will take about 2-5 days for the eggs to hatch and if the fish do eat the eggs, you can put them in a fine net with an airstone to provide movement in order to prevent fungus growing on them.

Would it be alright to move the eggs now? like are they going to be really stuck on the glass? I was going to try and section off the part of the tank that the eggs are in so that they have a chance. we have another level inside the tank kinda like a turtle tank that the fish breed at.

There is a pic of the eggs i took yesterday there are about 5 different places with that amount of eggs as well :)

You can move the eggs now, they should be very hard on the touch. You can use your fingers and gently roll them, or a credit card, or razor blade. It's a bit tricky the first few times but you get the hang of it eventually

okay awesome ill find a container i can put a few holes in and put it over the air bubbles. or can i just use a net i have a pretty big one?

You can use a net(your normal one for scopping fish), but make sure it's a very fine one as once my newborns ran out through the holes and I never saw them again. Make sure the fry will have access to surface water too so position the net this way. A couple of days after hatching, you can move them to a container inside the tank. Don't feed for the first 24 hours until their sacs have been consumated. If you use a plastic box, you can heat up a needle and make many tiny holes on the sides. If you are keeping the fry in there for a while, best is to flush it with tank water several times a day regardless because the holes can't provide water flow fast enough and the water quality inside it will deteriorate very fast. Put a bit of sand on the bottom and plants for them to feel secure and block the light. I feed tetra baby powder, i think it's the best from the baby foods. I have a shop bought breeder box that has the holes on the bottom. They are actually very tiny slits and I flushed a new born through them by accident the first time but caught it with the net before it got nibbled by other fish. These babies are tiny when born but grow very very fast and as long as they are in a cycled tank with no ammonia/nitrIte issues, they'll be just fine.

Good luck :good:

Okay thankyou I will do a container and some in the net to test :) I cannot wait for them to hopefully hatch, so far so good they have all darkened in colo9ur and the other fish are showing no interest in them at all :) Ill let you know how it all goes :)

Yes, do :good:
At 25 degrees, mine take 3 days. At 26 the eggs have hatched in 2 days.
With so many eggs, you can leave some in the tank to see how they go too.

Yes i didnt actually do any in the net as i will most likely need it soon have baby to transfer and such lol. Have place a container and got most of the eggs in the container and have left some in the tank as well :) my tank is set at 26 degrees so hopefully will see some little babies soon :) thanks for your help

Do you have an air stone inside, I can't see on the picture

the air stone is right underneath the container and i put the holes in the container as well. i can go and get a little air stone if need be :)
