2-year-old 75 Gallon planted aquarium. Sagittaria carpet with some Jungle Vallisneria in the background.
Black gravel and Fluval Stratum substrate.
15 green tiger barbs.
8 peppered corydoras.
1 rainbow shark.
1 Electric Blue Acara.
Fed small granular Tropical Formula Bug Bites, frozen Mysis shrimp, and blood worms accordingly. The tank isn't overfed.
Fluval 305 canister with an oversized sponge filter on the intake.
Around 30ppm Nitrate with a water change every ten days or so.

Overnight a strange, never-seen-before flakey film has coated the top of the water. It looks like translucent broken up fish flakes. That's definitely not what it is but that's the best way to describe it. First photo is from below the surface, the second is from above. I scanned the aquarium and nothing else is out of the ordinary. What is it and how do I cure it. Thank you

possibly pollen from the vallis.
do any of the vallis plants have flower stalks on them?

just use a paper towel to blot it up

none of the val has any stalks. I actually just used a vet-vac and skimmed the top. It's gone and hasn't returned. Very strange.
