Hi all! Long time lingerer, first time poster!
I wanted to pop this on here as I could not find an answer to my lighting question anywhere, but managed to figure it out.
One of the light fittings in my Aqua One AR980 kept blowing the tubes that I put in there. I couldn't afford a new hood so took to the internet to learn about fish tank electrics. I could not find anything on Aqua One AR range hoods, but I'd read about ballasts with regards to other aquariums so took my hood to bits and figure out what ballast I needed. Again trawled the internet, but could not find the right watt ballast.
So I contacted the website where I get all my spare parts, I'm guessing I can't put the details on here as it would be advertising, but I am sure you can PM me (it is a uk website that only does Aqua One spares). It is not on their website, but I called and asked them about spare ballasts for lighting hoods and they do sell them. If they do them then other supplyers of fish tank spares might too, so pick up the phone and find out.
Once the ballast was delivered it was very easy to fit and now I have a light that works, yay!!!
Now I might be being a typical girl... This answer might be everywhere... I might have typed the wrong thing into google when trying to find the answer to this... but in case there are other people like me out there who could not find this answer, hopefully now they will be directed to this post.
