Just a couple days ago, I was moving apartments and I think I dropped a rock on my 12 inch eel during the process of removing rocks from the tank. He used to swim a lot, but now he doesn't really move at all. When he actually tries to swim, his front half is okay but kind of twitches mid-body. I think I see some stiffness over there, or maybe crookedness... is there anything I can do about it?

To be honest, when I saw the title I thought you were going to talk about gay eels

Unfortunatley, if the eel has a broken back, there is nothing you can do. It's probably in pain.

I thought exactly the same thing!

If you're certain that the back is broken, it's probably best to euthanise.

If his back is actually broken, it would be kindest to end his suffering, but I would wait a few days to see if he improves.

I didn't drop the rock on him, it kind of just rolled onto him if anything. He's eating well, but he isn't as mobile as before.

Then, honestly, I'd wait before you do anything drastic. He may just be sore. Give him a few days to heal before you do something you can't take back.

This happened to me except with one of my beloved Kuhli Loaches... He swam in front of the pipe during a waterchange and broke his back in 2 places... Didn't live for long after that.
