For our home drinking water, we use a Brita Filter. This filter is an "activated carbon and ion exchange resin" filter that is certified to reduce:
Copper
Mercury
Cadmium
It also reduces chlorine (taste and odor).
It doesn't eliminate flouride (which we have in our tap water).
Also, "The Brita Filter is not intended to purify water".
If I test this water I still get the 1.5ppm Ammonia reading that I get testing water directly from the tap (but I think that is picking up the chloramines).
I was just wondering if I should use this filtered water for my fish tank along with a dechlorinator, of course). Brita have a FAQ on their web site about this very question, but they refuse to answer it.
