hello

i got a bristlenose plec about 3 weeks ago, its doing really well and is about 2.5 inches in length, my only concern is that its is a bristlenose, it has no bristles on its nose and im worried that it might be a different plec and get to big for my tank

some do not have bristles to speak of, especially the females. I believe the easiest way is to look for the white tips on their tail. check planetcatfish for some pics to compare with what you have.

Loachman is right about the tips and to check Planetcatfish.com.
Males generally develop there bristles at about 1.5-2" and some females will get a few or none at all.

Had mine about 5 mths now and "she" is about 1 & half inch long.

She only has very slight prominant bristle's on her nose.

I would suggect you probably got a lady coz the male bristles tend to be more prominant.
