what size tank do they need?
are they a peiceful fish?
how much do they normally cost?

thanks
sorry for all the questions

Hi Mark
Ive got 2 in a 50g uk.They are slightly territorial although my 2 dont squabble at all. They grow to about 4-5 inches and cost me £3 each. The ones you buy are usually quite small and Ive had a couple die on me.
BTW--bogwood in the tank is essential if you keep these. They love chewing it

Posts are going way off topic, could we please try to not hijack Marks post?
Btw saddlespotloachboy, more useful posts rather than chat like lines would be appreciated.

Mark, although bristlenose plecs are concidered peaceful fish, like all suckermouths they can attack the slimecoating of other fish. It's mostly flat bodied fish that are at risk (Read: fish like angels & discus). Though the bristlenose plecs aren't exactly known for this, they tend to do fine with most types of fish =)

The price really depends on where you live. In most places in england the price seems to be around 5 pounds, where as in Holland it's quite difficult to find them, and when you do it tends to be around 15 euros or so. It also really depends on the shop, it's best to look around in your nearby fish shops and see what the average price is.

er yer i looked at your history do you wana check

you are not going to get on too well on here if you keep posting randomely and stiring trouble.... :/

Now to help answer the question...

they will get to 5-6" max - they will be fine on their own or a group if you have a bigger tank.
we actually kept 2 in a 15gal and we breeding them in there (the tank was way over filtered and needed regular maintance as they are high waste producers.

I'd say 2 in a 30gal no problems - they will get a little agressive if they dont have their own hiding places so make sure youve got lots of caves and bogwood for them to hide under.

as for price - our lfs sells them at about 1" for £3.50 - try to get bigger ones than this as they will be a lot hardier ;) (and youl'll be able to sex them too if you do or dont want to breed them)
