Bristlenose Plec

Hi,

We have had a Bristlenose Plec in our Jewel Trigon tank for over 10 days now. The problem is he keeps managing to climb on top of the bio flter situated at the rear of the tank,and stays there until found and released back into the tank.

Im worried he will die if he keeps doing this as top of the filter is 5cm ABOVE the water line ?


Is this normal ?

NO2 0
NO3 40ppm (normal for this area)
PH 7.4

Tank is clean and the subtrate is gravel.

He is cleaning the glass and the rock but just keeps going on top of the filter ?

Dunno, you'd need explosives to get mine off the bottom, or a bit of cucumber

Unless the heaters on then he's stuck to the glass as close as he can get. But as its a terapin heater it fits vertically and its got a plastic sheild so he can't hold on.

Is there a lot of algae/biofilm on there thats drawing him up. Is it worth giving it a clean.

Hi,

Never thought of cleaning the outside of the filter.

Will clean it now and see how it goes tonight.
