This pic was taken on the 21st September. Nose to tail-tip, length is just under 4cm.

So I notice the white spots appear to be fading. I assume that these will disappear altogether?
At what size/age will I be able to sex it? I assume I need to wait for the 'bristles' to show?

The bristles are more noticeable in the males as they mature. Mine is around 3'' and has a mottled, brown camouflage coloration right now, with small bristles.

Hey :)
Hard to say at this age/size !
In general, female has wider body, shorter pectoral fins, small bristles mostly around mouth.
Could you provide a picture showing its pectoral fins widely spred ?

It takes time grasshopper for the bristle to grow or not to grow and then the answer will be reveled. Either has bristle or no bristle, that is the question?
