My male bnose has been in his cave aka. a car ornament, for the last week...he sticks his head our briefly at feeding time but besides that he never leaves it. Not even for the feeding tablet which he used to guard to the death. I suspect he has eggs and/or fry in there since whenever a platy goes in there (for whatever reason) he attacks them viciously (causing major disruptions to gravel in there).

So, assuming I have eggs/fry.....when will they come out?

I am new to this bnose breeding thing....

I REALLY want fry.... ....do I have to do anything special (feed wise) to look after them?

Hi Chooklet.

I'm afraid patience is the name of the game here.
It should take about 10 days from eggs to free swimming, but even then you might not see them for several more days.

When he starts coming back out to feed, then is the time to be on the lookout. There is no need to feed anything special as far as I know (I've had about 10 sets of fry now).

They can be very difficult to spot, and will often spend their first few weeks hiding away somewhere.

Does sound like you have some on the way though.

Good luck.
Ian.
