I am a bit worried about my ph.

Its 7.4 and I am going to be adding some blue rams on the weekend, and I think this is a little high.

How do I bring the ph down?

Is it wise to mess with the ph?

I have seen some stuff called "ph down" at the shops, should I use this?

Thanks

7.0 is just a ball park figure yours is fine IMO and I wouldn't mess with it, it could cause more harm then good messing with it.

Yeah I thought I read messing with it could cause damage.

Only thing I would take care about is when you add the fish to the tank, take a lot of care acclimatizing it. From what I have seen, fish stores can range in PH, so taking the fish from a 6.8, and tossing it into a 7.4 will be a shocker. There are guides on how best to do this. If you do this slowly enough and with a lot of care, you should be good.

yeah a stable ph is the most important factor.

ask the lfs what ph they're tanks are kept at so you know what the difference is, do a drip acclimitisation if it's quite a way out.

but once acclimitised rams should be fine in 7.4 i've had them in that before and they were fine.

messing with your ph is tricky nad can do much more harm than good!!
