Crikey! Just fed my white clouds some brine shrimp it's sent them crazy! They got a bloodlust and are now hunting anything that lives. I've had shrimp in there for a month or so and they've started trying to eat the cherries! Despite being nearly the same size. I also lost a couple of month-old-fry too!

Also...why is my amano shrimp swimming round frantically? There are places to hide but it just keeps going round and round at full pace. A little bit of salt water can't cause that can it?

Shrimp can just be funny sometimes, that's usually a sign of a problem with the water, or that the shrimp is about to moult.

Assuming all your other shrimp are behaving normally, it's probably just that he's about to moult :good:.

It was since the addition of brine shrimp though. They've only been in the tank 10 mins (well..there's none left now..) and the poor little things been speeding all over the place :)

Did you add the whole bag of brine shrimp with the water? How big is the tank?

Though it shouldn't make a difference, amano shrimp do very well in brackish water too.

I'd say it's just that he's about to shed, and all the activity in the tanks set him off.

Nah i added about a quarter of the water which was about half a pint. And the tank is a ten gallon.

I figure people add salt to cure some illnesses, so the tiny amount of very dilute salt water will have no effect.

It's settled down now the lights are off anyway.

But still...i've never seen that side of my friendly minnows. At least they're full now :P
