Hi
Up until this week we had been using ZM Brine shrimp. The hatch rate was pretty good and we thought there wouldn't be much difference between this and other makes. Wrong.......just started using Salt lake brine shrimp cysts from Discus aquatics and .....wow! The hatch rate is fantastic. Only have to drain off about 20ml to feed 3 tanks of fry :good: Worth a go if anyone is planning spawning :good:

Hatching rates can be affected by age and how the eggs are stored. If they are in an open container and exposed to air fewer eggs will hatch. If you keep them in an airtight container and keep that in a cool/ cold place, then you should have a higher hatching rate. Eggs that have been sitting on the shelf for several years will also have a lower hatch rate.

Even from new bags of ZM I never got the same hatch rate as these new ones. Always stored in airtight containers :good:
