I got some frozen brine shrimp as a weekly or so treat for my six Neon Tetras and did my first feeding. I took one frozen cube and cut it in half and then grabbed some tank water in a cup and let the cube melt in it. Once they were broken up and I swirled it around a few times I fed about 1/4 of it to the fish. They devoured them quickly and appeared to enjoy them. I then added another 1/4 and they ate most of it with a few falling down and about but nothing was left on top or floating about. I didn't really see anything floating around after a while. I have the rest in the fridge and will feed the rest tomorrow.
This is what I used. Hikari Brine Shrimp
I did a 25% water change about 2 hours later using a new Hagen Marina Easy Clean Mini gravel cleaner. The reason I got this one was because of the small 1" diameter which would fit easier between objects and plants in my tank that I do no want to disturb. I didn't care much for the jerking I had to do to get it going. I can't say I was able to get everywhere because of the plants and everything I didn't want to move around but guess it's better than the 2" and 2 1/2" models as far as room goes. The longer tubes would also make it more difficult to navigate the waters.

I almost got the JBJ Instant Siphon gravel cleaner which has a siphon pump and a flow valve.

Now that I'm done I see a couple brine shrimp floating about along with associated parts. Is this normally what people get when feeding brine shrimp?
Is it time to get Panda Cories or cherry Shrimp to do some house cleaning? My 16G is only 2 weeks in the making but if brine shrimp is going to be so messy then I either have to stop feeding them the treat or get some natural help.
