Breeding

Okay, so I am planning on breeding a plakat male with a halfmoon female. I have yet to decide on the male, but I want him to be a plakat. So far I have purchased a green dragon halfmoon female. I have a Halfmoon Plakat Metallic male. I want to know some other possibilities.

I think if I want to get some dragon fry spawned, I would go with a solid male right? So I wanted to get maybe a super red plakat.

Would there be any forseeable problems with finnage? And would there be any problem with dragon fry not appearing in the spawn? Wouldn't it be about 50% or atlesat 25%?

You'd get longfins no matter what plakat you use. You'd probably get metallics or something out of your spawn and probably not dragons. I'm not sure about that but you might want to PM Synirr because she's #1 with genetics.

Hmm, I don't think the super red would be a good idea to breed to a green, because you'd get red wash. If I'm correct, the only thing you should breed to a red is another red... unless you have a certain goal in mind. Also, make sure you use a HMPK, not a traditional plakat.

HMPK X HM will get some VT's, me thinks.

If you get F2 they will produce F3 which I think Cracker is doing, not sure though... HM X HM or HMPK X HMPK will be best.

Thanks! Im definitely looking at Halfmoons on Aquabid. Can anyone let me know who to look for when buying off aquabid?

I also have a super black female PK. I wouldn't mind breeding her. I guess I gotta look more at how two colors will come out and things like that.

I ordered from Petfish, don't think he has any single HM males at the moment though. Maybe on his website.

Longfin x PK F1 = longfin that are VT looking but better fin carrying-age or whatever . F1 babies x PK = 50/50 Pk and Longfin

You'll get VTs if you use a traditional PK, but longfin HMs if you breed a HM to a HMPK... hence my above post.

Ohhh!! I did not know that!! . Thanks for letting me know. Im definitely gonna use HMPK in that case. I have one waiting. Perhaps I will use a different female. I am going to get a pair or two so I can decide which to use. Just gotta get color and tail outcomes figured out. I did some reading up on in, but man this stuff is still confusing lol.

EDIT:

If I do PK X PK that should yield 100% PK right? If so that would be another option for me.

Also, what colors are a no no for super black? and then what colors are a no no for dragon green, or just green?
