Breeding Tank Set Up W/ Bettas In It

has the male built a bubble nest yet - you need to add something for him to build under - either floating plants - bubblewrap - works very well - or half polystyrene cup

You cannot release the female until the male has built a nest and the female is receptive - when she is ready she swims with her nose down

How have you been conditioning them?
you said the other day the male had only been in the tank an hour - the male really needs to be conditioned in the spawning tank so he sets up a territory and then will build a nest

The male doesn't get fed until after the babies are free swimming - 3-4 days after spawning and the male is released

temp should be 28-30 degrees and stay stable in the spawning and growout tanks

have you got some growout tanks ready -- you'll need about 50-100 tubs to house the males , you also need someway of keeping the temp stable in the tubs - males need to be seperated from approx 6-8 weeks some earlier

some females also have to be seperated

The tubs then require daily water changes of 70-80%

Have you already discussed re homing them with a lfs when they are approx 4 months old as a lot of private buyers dont go for vt's unless they are speciifically bred to IBC standards
thats why more people breed FT,HM,OHM,SD,CT and RT

Can you post a sideways pic of the female cos she doesn't look very eggy yet
