could anyone tell me how long it takes for them to have the fry they are about 3 weeks now i think and all the little black dots in there bellys have disappeared but can still see something inside. got a little breeding net basket and was going to let them have there young in the big tank then net all the fry out and then i'll put them into the basket net. i have 4 females and 2 males in the tank with 2 corys

I've been reading that its about 28 day to 4 weeks and you'll know when they square off?!?!?! i could be wrong that what i was told. and then every month for 3 months after the first drop.... sorry not much help. look under the live bearers and there are a lot of forums there for pregnant platy and such. good luck im waiting on a Molly to give birth.

A month mate roughly, mine used to take 30-31 days and there would be another dollop of them for sure.

They will square off and you will see her tube open slightly. The males will usually be following her around as they want to be the first to get to her once she is 'empty' and ready for more.

I prefer the plastic breeding traps more so than the nets and the fry have somewhere to drop to and be safe once born. In the net they're still in with the mum and risk being eaten.

You have a nice ratio for males to females

still no fry, gutted, now they all seem to have a dark shadow across their backs, anyone know what this is?

My strawberries and cream platties have this also. Nothing to worry about mate.

You will get fry eventually, it is 99% innevitable. Give it a couple of weeks and i reckon you will be telling us about the new arrivals!!
