I have 2 gold sevs and im 99% sure they are M and F. They have displayed all the signs over the last month, lip locking, shaking, chasing, cleaning rocks and pit digging. I caught the larger female laying eggs a few weeks ago but ate them straight away. They are very peaceful towards each other and spend all their time at each others sides.

I was wondering are there any tricks to instigate spawning amongst sevs? raising or lowering temp, more or larger water changes, romantic music and candle light? I REALLY want these to get closer to having fry, even just leaving the eggs alone for 5 mins would be a step forward.

I have a pair of red jewel cichlids that will breed every week irrespective of where they are, all they want is a smooth round rock to lay on :)

Any ideas or info from people who have bred these would be greatly appreciated.

Also, any ideas on why my Geos suddenly have no luck? They had fry a month or 2 ago completely out the blue, they have now laid twice more but this has come to nothing, they are in the exact same place with all the same perameters, its kinda baffled me.

Thanks

Raise temps, do a large water change, and feed some frozen maybe even live foods, and of course some Marvin Gay or Barry White. This has alwasy helped with me, never used music, when spawning any warm water tropical fish. With cold water fish it is different, when I spawned some darters two years ago I had to drop the temp from 76 to 72.

They always seem more receptive after a large water change, so will keep on with that
