I have recently bought 2 red honey gourami which have started breeding, only problem is they disappear into a log to do there business so obviously no nest at top of tank, Will this work???

They female will release the eggs and the male blows them up into the bubble nest. I have read that he may also put some of the eggs in his mouth and put them into the bubbles. I suppose if the latter is the case with your male then he may swim up to the top with them. By any chance are you lacking in floating plants? Though this isn't set in stone as a requirement, they do certainly prefer floating plants to make the bubble nest in. I don't know if it's possible to build a bubble nest in a log or not.
