I just want to know what your past breeding were like? I am just curios because I am going to attempt my first spawn soon and I want to know what was your 1st spawn like and other spawns too. Just so I can get an idea of how my spawn might turn out.

My first spawn the male ate all the eggs.My second spawn i left the male in to long and he ate all but 4 babies.Managed to keep them alive a week tomorrow. h ope i can save atleast 1lol.

When I breed my CTs I will be sorta hoping for a smaller amount of fry that live if any live at all.

what you want is a large spawn. You will amke lots of mistakes so most of them will die off any way.

Well if I win the bid on the CT girl I will start conditioning right away. I have been ready to breed my bettas but my perfect match never came along. But well except for Carmel and Penny but they are VTs.

I bred my bettas for the first time just a few weeks ago. It was a first time for all of us (the bettas and me!) The eggs hatched March 20th. When the eggs were first hatching there was WELL over a hundred, probably 200, if not more. Now that the fry are about 3 weeks I'd say there's about 100 left, maybe a little less. I was very nervous and I noticed the male was having problems wrapping the female. I left them in there a few more hours and then pulled the female out. I put another female in, thinking he'd have better luck wrapping her since she was smaller, but he kept chasing her away so I removed her, too. A day later I realized there were eggs in the nest! The first pair HAD got it right! So the only mistakes was me not having faith in my fish that they would eventually get it right :) The male did fine, took great care of the eggs and as soon as the fry were swimming horizontally I removed him. I started doing water changes kind of early according to other things I've read, but that was due to a stupid overfeeding accident. I did my first water change when they were only 1 week old. I suck up the crud on the bottom of the tank every 2-3 days and replace only the amount of water I take out. The water level is still about 6 inches. I feed microworms, atison's betta starter, and I just started BBS recently. My fry are getting pretty big. There are some in the tank that look a few weeks older than they really are!
I plan to breed my next pair around May 15, about when these babies are 8 weeks. I will move the babies to my grow out tank and probably start jarring the males then and the spawning tank will be free for my next attempt.

alot of jars are gonna ned cleaning lol.

I have 3 kids=cheap labor! LOL :p Just kidding. Actually, I wouldn't let my kids help with jar cleaning....they're too clumsy! But hubby helps me and it's actually a nice break away from the kids, so I don't mind it so much!

i know what you mean and im a kid lol.Ill do anythign to do with fish to get away from my brother sometimes. lol.

I would not mind cleaning jars. it gives me an excuse to get away from the rest of the family. I love cleaning fish tanks. I dont know why.

My first spawn was a gorgeous red marble ct pair, the eggs all got eaten by daddy. My second spawn (same pair) produced around 200 babies, but he ate them all before he became free swimming. Third spawn was a success, had about 35 babies who lived. There are A LOT of things that can go wrong when breeding. I've had a few successful spawns in my time but even more failures.

Here are the next pairs I plan on breeding
