Breeding Pair Choices

Hmm.. So I'm planning on breeding (my third time) and I'm having trouble choosing which bettas to pair.

These are my choices:

male pastel SD + female pastel DT
male black (with some translucent blues on caudal) PK + female pastel DT (same fish as above)

I'm gonna try to post photos later but in the meantime, what do you guys think the outcome will be for these pairs?

if you're willing to have one generation of long fins that almost look like veils/round tails thats what you'd get f1 from the PK and the girl. if you did the SD you might some deltas/sds depending on what kind of DT the female is, but i dont think you'll get like clean doubletails or any at all if the guy doesnt have any dt geno in him. but in f2 theyl'l have dt geno then you can spawn a spawn male to the mom / spawn brother to sister to get some DTs.

is it a short tailed DT or long? if its short id go with the the PKxDT

Yea, I'm not a breeder or anything and god knows I dont know anything when it comes to geno's but personally I would go with the PK and the DT. Happy spawning

Hmm.. I think I'd go for the SD+DT pastels. No biggie about not getting any DTs, I really don't want any.

Too bad about the PK, though. I really want a CTPK spawn but it's the same as with the DT, all long fins in f1. And I really don't have time for an f2, much less an f3. Heh.

He's currently exploring the vastness of the five-gallon.

I'm gonna be introducing the female in a few minutes.

Bleh. I decided to scrap the SD+DT pair. They're back in their separate bowls.

Now I'm thinking of pairing a male SD (blue body, red fins with white edges) with a female cambo (or blue) CT. The SD's unpaired fins are combing a bit, especially the dorsal and anal. Do you guys think he has some CT in him? If he does, my spawn should have some CTs with around 20-30% web reduction, right?

I'm going out to see if I can find some nice female bettas. For more pair combos.
