My sword tail had a dark red gravid spot. She is plump and so yesterday I put her in a LARGE breeding net. She seems happy and is not showing any signs of stress. She has been pregnant a few times. Once she aborted cause some idiot in a fish shop sold me a little plastic breeder trap which well stressed her out. All the other time I have not caught her and the fry have been eater up straight away. (I once nearly caught one but it swam and was gulped up... bless!)
Anyway. How can I tell thet she is ready other than seeing the dark red 'gravid' spot to her rear? I dont want to stress her out and kill her by being in the net.

Secondly. My molly is only teeny weeny. She is also heavily pregnant and looks square!!! She has no dark area though. I put her in the plastic breeder for a few hours last night then let her out again. I have put her in again tonight for a few hours, but even though she is the right size for it, I dont like them. BUT if I dont catch them they will just all be eaten... again

Any tips on how to tell exactly when they are ready... working mum, kids the lot and no time to sit an constantly watch!!!!!!

:fun:
