I read the information about breeding guppies, and how to tell if they are pregenant (Fantastic), but what about mollies, platys and swordfish. How long are they pregenant and what are the signs (how big) that they are ready to be moved to a breeding tank?

platys i know are pregnant for about a month and to tell how, they tend to stay alone they also get a dark spot just under their anal fin. you really cant be sure when she will. you just have to be on your toes about it, and always be on a look out for fry. some fish may not even get really really fat. but they do have a little bit of a bulge. the best indicator to tell if your platy is pregnant is the gravid spot. thats how my fish was at least.

hope this helped a little bit.

Most livebearers give birth every 28-32 days.
They get quite fat but this is not always the case, some have gravid spots but not all, molly's and some platies don't tend to show them, but when they do u can sometimes see small eye's looking out, this happens about 10 days before birth.

As for spotting when their are going to give birth, this is quite difficualt, till you studied them and then you can usually spot it.
The mum to be tents to become antisocial, and hiding and little stuff like that.
