Hi all,

Was sitting here having a browse on the forum and a thought occured to me (uh oh). I'm thinking of introducing live food for the fish in my tank for the first time and was thinking either frozen bloodworm or baby brine shrimp.

Now this is probably going to be a very stupid question but is there a fresh water alternative to something like Brine Shrimp that would grow in my community tank alongside the fish and supply the fish with constant live food? Seems it would solve the problem of having to buy frozen stuff constantly and provide an extra tiny community in the tank. As there would be a constant supply I'm hoping the fish wont just gorge on them like I know they do with frozen stuff put in once a week and so whatever the fresh water alternative might be would have a chance to mature and lay eggs and rinse and repeat as they get eaten.

Thoughts? Does such a thing exist?

It's a nice idea but, in a tank situation, all that happens is that the fish eat faster than your live food can reproduce.
