Breeding Kribs

Can you have multiple Kribs in tank from the start and still breed successfully or will there be considered to much competition as they are busy showing off or something?
Looking at coverting my 40 gallon over to a breeding tank.

It's not the best idea. Krib's are very defensive of their territory.
