BTW I'm not sure if this goes here :S

But anyway for my new tank I am planning on getting some, and I would like some advise on how to breed them as I heard it was rather easy :good:

I have a pH of 8 so am I right in thinking I will get lots of boys?

Thanks in advance Lucy :)

Kribs perfer lower pH, then most africans. But I have read that they are fine in up to a pH of 8. I hope someone can double check me on that. When I bred mine they were in water with a pH of 7.1 and they did very well. I started out with 3 females and 2 males in my 75 gallon, and once a pair formed I took them out and placed them in my 30 gallon.

What size is your tank?

Well depending on what other fish are in the tank, will relate to how many fry will survive. Also it is recommended to seperate the pair from the community tank , mainly because of aggression. Now cichlids have bred in community tank tank before and in some cases everything has gone well. But yet again this depends on what in the tank as well. If you have lots of hiding places for the fry you may get a few to survive. I found after about 12-14 days after the fry have hatched the male would want to breed again and would attpemted to eat the fry. So at 10 days I would take out the male.
