Hi all i have a pair of jack dempseys in my 70g main tank and was wondering. i have a acquired a 30g bow fronted tank and was wondering would it be ok to use this tank as a breeding tank for these fish once it is cycled and once they have had the fry to transfer the jd's back into my main tank. the male is about 4 and a half inches and the female is about 4 inches.

regards

It depends on the size of your fish? A 30 gal might be too small for them to get in the mood if you know what I mean. Some fish are funny like that Some one on here was saying how their fish would not spawn in the smaller tank that was set up for them but once put back in the larger tank they got right to it. So it depends I don't think you will have much success breeding them in the smaller tank. It would be a great tank to transfer the fry too and let them grow in the 30 Gal.

No harm in trying.
