Hi everyone.

OK I have been looking for some rainbow cichlids for some time, and I finally found some 3 weeks ago, (After a 120 mile round trip) I purchased all 10 that the shop had. I did that with the aim of breeding them, which I had done before, many years ago. Tonight I guess I have managed to get my 1st pair, these are young fish. Anyway I noticed some wierd behaviour, they are doing the usual stuff chasing off the other fish and are cleaning the side of a plant pot, where I would think they are going to put the eggs. Now, one of the fish starts to shake everytime the other one comes near it, I dont remember this from my last time breeding them, is this normal? They live in a 6ft x 2ft x 2ft tank. I do have some other fish including dollars, Red rainbpws, I think I will partion off the tank to give them a fighting chance, but I am not sure about this shaking, it looks like it is shivering

Any Ideas

I think its normal, sort of like trying to impress the other fish. I know my HRP male did it to the female, and they have successfully paired up and bred.

good sign there shimming at each other means there pairing of get ready for them cleaning somewhere of and spawning

good luck biff
