how do you breed guppies ? i have heard if you put a cup filled with gravel in the tank it is worked as a nest is this true do you need to keep it in a dark area if you no anyother fish and how to breed them please tell  :p thanks

Sorry, I can't read your text, any chance you can make it bigger? :hyper:

you need nothing to get guppies to breed, get a male, get a female. put them in the same tank. wait 30 days.

hey presto guppie fry. no nest, live bearers hence the topic section name.

this is probeblly another dumb question but how can you tell if its a male or female?

females r bigger and have less tail than males

oh, and the anal fin is different, one is big and one is small

I have about 20 guppy fry, in three different age groups. The older ones ( 8wks) are starting to breed.
The males are usually more colorful and are smaller than the females. Females are usually not as pretty as the males, :D , go figure.
Like everyone says, they need NO help on learnig to breed! :fun:

thanks very much and the fry what do they need to eat or do u just put in the normal flakes

i have the guppies in with the other fish is this still going to work ? will any of the fry survie when there is a lot of other fish in there i guess it madders on the other fish i no i have lots of fancy tailed gold fish (5) angel fish(3) and a few other fish but they are really small ?

No, the other fish seem to leave them alone. The other fish are 2 spotted plecos, and one brown goldfish.
The fry will eat the adult food, only crush it into smaller pieces.
It's nice to have some sort of floating plants, fake or real, this gives the fry a place to hide.
Hope this helps.

:hyper: wow that is really easy all you do is buy the male and female and your done thanks :hyper:

heres another dumb qestion sry but do the moms and dads of the fish die after they have there fish :-(

They shouldn't die but it's been known to happen. I had one female die while birthing, but she was pretty old..

To breed, it's easy. Add water and guppies. 3 females, 1 male.
There's no need for a cup of gravel to make a nest.
