hey guys, im a total newb so im lookin for some help.

i've got 2 guppies (male and female) and they are always swimming around together. i mean they never seperate. so im wondering, will they breed by themselves? is there anything i have to do? my tank is 2.5 gallons.

any help or advice would be great.

First, yes they will certainly breed. Second, you should post all livebearer questions in the livebearer forum.

RE: if you need to do anything....the answer is YES! -> buy a bigger tank coz when they breed...you'll need places to stick the little fellas.

:D and u will need lots of plants for the young to hide in or they might get eaten

Hi swimmer88 :)

I'll move your thread into the Livebearers forum where people who keep guppies will be more likely to see it and give you good advice. :D

Are you sure that theres a male and a female, Cuz if they aren't you will never get fry. You should also get a bigger tank.

Hi ya and welcome to the forum.

fist I have some quetions,

How long has the tank been set up??
Is it cycled??
do you know your water chem??

I think if the tank very new you need to consentrate on getting the tank healthy before you think of new arrivles, in any case most female guppies will hold there fry if they beleave the water is not good anothe.

Yep there breed on there own, guppies will breed like rabbits, (well unless they belong to me that is). The only problem is with such a small tank, I dout any babys will suvive, alot of livebearers are terrible mothers and will eat there babys as soon as they get the chance.

If your planning on seriously keeping and breeding guppies or you can't bring yourself to let the fry to suvive on there own, I sugest you get a larger tank for keeping adults and keep the small one for any fry that are born.

One word of warning if your tank has'nt cycled guppies are not the best choise of fish, through lot of terrible breeding to get color they are not as hardy as they use to be.

I hope I helped feel free to ask anything else. Sorry about the long post in INFO mood tonight.
