I want to breed my koi angels. I also have the room to accomodate for some newborn and have many people wanting angels.

I am selling many of my tanks and inhabitants to buy a new 55, two 29s, and an 75-80.

I am really serious about breeding these guys. I feel I will make whatever money back really fast as in my LFS they rarely have angels in and I see them wanted in the newspaper.

I am going to be getting these tanks really soon and need to know everything I will need.

So far my list are as follows.

Tanks --

2x 55s
2x 29s
4x 10s

Thats for sure what I will have within' a month to two months.

I need to know what kind of filtration I need for the fry. I am guessing sponge filters?
Are my tanks going to be enough to growout the fry?
And I can go buy blackworm, daphnia, bbs, bloodworms, etc and cultures at my lfs so feeding them won't be any trouble. I guess BBS would be best for them though right?

There are books of info written on breeding angels. Knowing everything you need to start is one thing, beond that, get a good network of resources for information set up. That way when you encounter difficulties, you have somewhere to go to ask questions.

A couple that I use are http://www.theangelfishsociety.org/ & http://www.angelfish.net/yabbse/index.php Both are excellent.

Sponge filters are a must for fry tanks, as well as feeding freshly hatched bbs. As far as tank space, figure on 1 gallon per nickle size angel, 2 gallons per quarter size. Young pairs produce 200-300 eggs per spawn, mature pairs up to 700-800.

I would start with growing out 1 spawn to sellable size, as they use up tank space at a rapid pace. It's easy to get overly enthusiastic about pulling spawns & raising them, then you are scrambling to get tanks, stands, etc.

Good luck!
