I have two angels in my tank and as luck would have it they've decided to lay a few eggs, however, their first attempt didn't quite work and all the eggs fell off the leaf, they've just laid their second batch and then proceeded to eat them all. Now before you tell me to separate them into their own tank, I did not buy them as a breeding pair and i'm not equiped to breed fish, if any do hatch they will unfortunately have to take their chance with the other fish in there  . Should any survive then they will be taken to the lfs to be re-homed, now will these two keep going with laying eggs and maybe get the hang of what they are supposed to do to raise their young or will they eventually give up?

I don't normally like to make asumptions but in this case I would have to asume "nature" will continue it's course, I could be wrong though. I believe Tolak is the resident Angel breeding expert, and should know and well most like come across this thread and give some advice.

I have a pair that I would describe as "furious breeders". They were pretty clumsy the first few times, but after a while, they handle the eggs pretty well. I can say with reasonably certainty the following:
- The breeding angels will drive your other fish insane.
- If your angels do figure our how to get their eggs to stick somewhere and they do hatch, there is almost no chance of survival unless you intervene. My pair have had about 15 spawns now, and all have been eaten, died of starvation or sucked into the filter. The angel fry need really fine foods, fed frequently, to survive. That alone will prevent them from reaching adulthood.
- On the off chance that some do survive, the next time they lay eggs, the parents will likely kill the older fry to protect the new fry.

If you don't have other fish for the angels to harrass, then you're probably fine to let them do their thing without having to worry about raising babies.

Thanks for the replys, they have laid eggs twice within two weeks, if they continue then good luck to them . They are already giving the others hell about 'their' tank space although non have been killed yet (thankfully) and if they do manage to raise young i'll give them every chance
