"breeding" Amazon Swords (plants)

I have several of these Amazon sword plants that shoot out runners with lots of white flowers on. Each flower eventually becomes a new plant and eventually grows roots....... Will I have better (faster) results if I pick these runners & just plant them, or do I have to wait for the plant to develop onto the runner before planting them separately??
