breeding 2 dif species?

Im pretty sure that you can, but a male platy wouldnt be able to get a female molly pregnant. I am pretty sure that a male molly could get a female platy pregnant though. Please someone correcct me if I am wrong

As far as I am aware, Mollies can't breed with Platies or Swordtails. The only reason there are Molly/Guppy crosses, is because they are both part of the Poecilia family. Platies and Swordtails can breed, because they are both part of the Xiphophorus family. They can't breed outside their family.

i think a fish would look good with the look of a molly but the colors of a platy

Platies can cross with Swordies. That's it. However, a lot of Platies you see today have already been hybridized somewhat with Swordies to get a few select colors. If you cross a Platy and a Swordtail, it really won't be anything splendid. (Sorry!). I'd just stick to Swordies or Platies.

a molly/guppie crossing is very rare, and if anyone does have, PLEASE post a pic, I'd love to see it.

Platys and swords are easyer, Thats how many of the colour ect of platties were done, but you got to make shore the females are virgins.

why would you want to cross anyway??

nothing wrong with crossing, but no one will realy want the fry. I have tryed crossing Black-chinned livebearers, with guppies, as no one knew if it could be done, never got any fry.

I got a felling I may have a molly, gup cross, he very strange looking, I dout it is, I love him to be one though.
