Does anyone know of Breeders in the north east area of Toronto. Finding that the LFS has very poor quality or diseased fish.
That puts the whole business on shaky ground. For someone who is just starting out, it's frustrating when the product is half dead when it comes out of the bag. And I guess I did not phrase my question right. I am getting back into the fish game for my kids and when I had several tanks on the go, there was a hobbist that was selling fish privately. Excellent quality and they cared about what they where doing. So if there is someone out there that is in this situation or has a contact I would greatly appreciate it .freddyk said:Let me know if you find any - unfortunately in this sad quantity over quality society Big Als has destroyed all of the independents. The location in Scarborough keeps their tanks quite healthy, you just need to choose carefully, and sometimes return several times to get something of decent quality. They've actually get some very nice fish - the trick is to fork out more cash and keep away from the most common (and overbred) varieties. No matter where you buy, say, tiger barbs, they're likely to be lousy quality.
