Would it be safe to breed my guppies (2 at a time) in a 1 gallon bowl? They would only be there for 1 or 2 days, so I wouldn't think that cleanliness would be an issue and of course I would clean it all out after they went back to the main tank, and also I have a heat lamp that does an exelent job of keeping the water at the right temperature (I tested it). My question is, is 1 gallon big enough for two fish or would I have stress problems?

when breeding them on a one to one basis you must give the female places to hide from the male otherwise he could stress her to death. it needs to have a filter in there as well im afraid. i wouldnt do it.

Okay, a filter. Hmm, I wonder if I could make one with the equiptment that I have... Anyway, I have tons of plants that I could put in there so places to hide isn't an issue. Also I have a cute little statue that has holes all over for the fish to swim in and out of. And also, if I breed yonger, smaller ones then I could breed 1 male with 2 females at a time. After all, for some reason I have a ton of females and only a few males. It's weird how they all developed like that:p

yep make your own temp filter, it will do. make sure you run it in your main tank for atleast 7 days to gain the required bacteria and when you set up the tank tak some water from your main tank to use for the breeding bowl. i once used clean dechloribated water but with a filter that had been running for only a few days and lost the lot
