I caught my silver dollars stuck together and shaking the other day. It looked like there 'getting it on' (would be the nicest way of saying it), but im not really sure how to spot the signs of silver dollars mating or the way they do it.
Could someone please help me and tell me what i need to know about breading silver dollars just in case i was right in thinking thats what they were doing, and also what are the chances of them being pregnant if they were?
I am kinda woried about this as i have no experience in breading the larger fish or anywere to keep them. (the fry that is).
I will be very greatful for any help that anyone can give me!!!!

Well, first of all they are egglayers, not livebearers, so the courtship will not result in the female getting "pregnant"; instead this will be when she lays the eggs and they are fertilised by the male as they leave her body. They spawn in shoals, need soft, acid, warm (26-28C) water, like to spawn among floating plants, single feemale can produce up to 200 eggs which fall to the bottom and are then ignored (but may of course get eaten by otyher fis in a community tank); the fry can be raised on small live foods. All this according to Sandford&Bailey, The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Aquarium Fish.
