My Brother has just got a few little Galaxy Rasbora in his 45litter tank and i feel in love with them. Have just got my self 10 in my 125litter tank soon to get 10 more (next weekend) has any one had and successes breading them. Any hints or tips. Does or dont's.
Got a mix or sex think i have 4 males so far and 6 females

After reading your recent results,i personally think it was too soon to add any new fish...

Galaxy's breed better in a tank set up for them, they are egg scatterers and the eggs would probably end up getting munched unless you have pebbles etc on the bottom where the eggs can fall through.

My wife fixed a great breaded grouper for dinner last night. Galaxy rasboras are just way too small when you're hungry.

Alex, if you look in the Rasbora section someone in there is currently breeding theirs.

Though like Harlequins says, don't do it if it's too soon.

My results haven't changed now for nearly 2 weeks everything is at 0 (not the ph obviously) and my nitrate is reading around 15ppm I have been doing tests everyother day just to be on the safe side.
I do have some large ish pebals at the back of my tank and a few at the front with a 2cm layer of medium sized gravel, I also have a fairly good plant coverage at the back. Will have to wait and c I guess. They have already forumed a very nice looking group swimming around the tank. Pics 2 follow when I get back from work.

Galaxy's are relatively easy to breed. I have a thread of my results from when I bred.mine last year. Set up a dedicated breeding tank with an air powered sponge filter. bare bottom or sand is good as a substrate. Use spawning mops or java moss. Add a male ajd female fish and you should notice spawning activity within a couple of days. Remove the adults once you think they've spawned and the fish will start to appear wihin about a week. I fed mine on infusoria and liquifry, then hikari first bites and then crushed tetra prima. They take about 2 months to colour up and mine are doing great a year later. Some interesting pattern morphs in mine that could be interesting to line breed.

good luck.with yours.
