Hi,
ducked into LFS today and they had some Lilaeopsis for sale (brazilian micro sword) I have been looking for something that would do as a foreground, carpet type plant and was prior tossing up between dwarf hairgrass and dwarf sagittaria, then I seen this Lilaeopsis plant.

I have sort of got my back plants sorted, wisteria and either contortionist vall or corkscrew vall, middle is taken up with anubias just the foreground one is stumping me.

Which would be better out of the three,no co2,sand substrate 1.3 watts per gallon, tank depth 600mm,liquid ferts.

It is just he has this in stock and it looks very healthy and I will be setting up the tank this weekend :hyper:

Thank you.

If go with sag as the lilaeopsis will grow very thin leaves and take forever, the hairgrass will take forever but the sag sends runners out very quickly in comparison.

Steveo,
I keep going over and over what plants to put in,so if I could put this to you with what I have come up with,do you think this would be ok for first time plant grower in my tank, all with specs as in previous post.Forgot to mention 63 gallon tank.

Contortionist val at the back, anubias in middle, these are already established in existing tank and will be going in the new tank, wisteria prob mid to back ground, have some of these growing in old tank and of course the dwarf sag as foreground and I am hoping LFS can supply me some flame or peacock moss to go onto driftwood I have in my new tank, large piece of gold vine.

The LFS lent me a book where they get there plants http://www.piscesenterprises.com/joomla/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1

I also have some very small java ferns and I mean very small that I will attach to rocks etc and see how they grow.

LFS is sending order in on Monday so I am hoping to get one in by then.

Thank you for your time,as I said first time plant grower here so really no concrete idea of whats what.Fish will be ruby Nose tetras, corys, maybe dwarf pleco or two and neon tetras.

That set up sounds fine mate for what your after, make sure you have good flow in the tank tho, it's one of the most important things when going planted, find out the litres per hour of your filter as you want at least 10 x full tank volume turnover per hour. :)

Thank you Steveo,
water turnover on my tank is 1000 ltrs hr,tank hold 240 ltrs with no substrate, rocks etc.So I amy have to look at some more water movement?

Yeah I'd grab your self a koralia, have the filter inlet and outlet one above the other in the same end of the tank, put a koralia in the opposite end facing downwards to help push the flow down towards the suction end of the filter, are you using an external?

No external Steveo, all filtering is under the hood Aqua One 980T http://www.aquaone.co.uk/aquastyle_techspecs.php

:D might have to send the good wife some flowers if I tell her I got to spend some more dollars,we had abit of a guessing game on the plants today, she started at $20.00, poor lass when I told her $100.00 :hyper:

Wow! You don't have to fill it all the way up, plant sparingly and let it grow in mate, defo get a koralia tho to complement the flow.

How ever if I need more circulation or what ever need be,always open to suggestions,if not right now then bit further down the track.

Thanks Steveo would something like do the job http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Submersible-Aquarium-Fish-Wave-Maker-Powerhead-Pump-/190640617576?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item2c6310f868

Yikes plants are ordered now, price wise here is example,3 stems contortionist vall @ $6.00, 1 anubias nana on it its own, small plant $11.00

So I ordered 3 anubias,4 bunches cont vall,5 bunched wisteria and two small bags java moss.Over kill???

Thanks mate,I was worried that the powerhead doing 3000 ltrs hr would make the tank just be like swirling around all the time if you get my drift. So I was not sure if to go to smaller amount per ltr per hr.i suppose I was thinking of a light movement in the tank, never had a powerhead before so i would not have a clue on how much movement the one mentioned would create, learning still. :)

Well with the filter you have you could buy one that does around the 1500lph mark and it will do it just fine, depends what fish you have too as some, like Discus, don't like too much flow.
