Well it's my first post after saving up my money i bought my first aquarium setup at the weekend, totally new to the hobby so i thought this would be a good place to start! :)

I have a Fluval Duo 1000 Deep Aquarium with an external Fluval 205 filter, i got everything setup, washed the gravel, rocks and socked my mopani wood for 24 hours, i'm only using plastic plants at the moment.
Well after filling up my tank and then turning on the filter and setting the heater i left the tank to get itself going, this was all done by sunday night.

My only issue i have is since it's been done it seems cloudy from the sides of the tank yet clear at the front???!!! from the sides you can only just see the end of the tank which i find very odd as i've added nothing but water conditioner and some capfulls of Nutrafin Cycle that came with the package (this was before finding this site!)
I thought the water would be crystal clear by now after a few days?
Is this a common issue?

Sorry if this is really basic stuff but i couldn't seem to find the answer to my particular cloudy water problem anywhere else!! and i dont; want to start on the cycling process until i know if this is a problem already or wether this is normal?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi yes its normal. Its a bacterial bloom and will die down in a couple of days
Hope this helps, good luck with the tank!
What inmates are you going for?

Perfectly normal. Will clear in time. Please seriously consider doing a fishless cycle to get the filter prepared ready to cope with the waste from all your fish. Follow the add and wait method from the link in my sig. Whilst you are waiting for the cycling process to finish read all the pinned topics in this forum, the tropical chit chat one, planted tanks + the foums of any fish you plan on getting.

:hi: to TFF by the way

Sometimes it can take an AGE for the tank to clear that misty/milky look :( but it does eventually go :D Once, my tank looked like skimmed milk (ok, not quite but......) and I tried alsorts. In the end I just left it and now it looks like I don't even have any water. Hard to believe, take a look.........good luck

thanks folks!! Not sure what fish to go for yet, i just want to build up slowly with some hardy fish just to get the hang of things, maybe some Zebra Danios? then i was going to ask here for some advice on some more good community fish and what types mix well together!!! I have a approx 180L (40G) tank so i should be able to get a nice variation hopefully!!!
