Boyu Protein Skimmer Leaking Bubbles From Bottom?

Hello All,

Can anybody help me? I have bought of Ebay a 3 foot marine set up with a 'in tank' Boyu protein skimmer. I am not sure on exactly what level it should be at and there are loads of tiny air bubbles coming from the bottom which is making my tank look cloudy.

The only way I can stop this is to almost close the air intake valve but surely this is just making the whole skimmer do nothing?

I would really appreciate any advice on this matter.

When you say there are bubbles coming from the bottom, do you mean through the outer plastic casing, if so there is a crack in it, no bubbles should be escaping from the bottom - the goal is that the bubbles come out the top and collect in the cup
