Some of you might have seen my other thread about me buying a new tank. Well, I bought it, but a few issues have arisen because of it that I'd like advice on. It's a Fluval Osaka 155L

  1. I have a Fluval 205 (rated for up to 200L tanks). However, it comes with a Fluval 305 (rated for up to 300L), though the seller says it leaked when he tipped it so he suspects the sealing ring needs replacing but he's not sure. Anyone know whether it's likely to be the sealing ring and whether it's worth going with the bigger filter or sticking with what I know?
  2. I have a 150W heater at the moment. I know the general rule is 1W per litre. Is it worth getting a new one? I'd be right on the upper limit of the sensible size for that heater.
  3. The original lighting unit has gone and there is an Arcadia unit. The original light was designed to hang from the top piece - is there any way I could get the new Arcadia light to do this? I'm not completely comfortable with having it sat on top and I'd rather have it hanging than glue it on. Link included if it helps: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290785985797?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_11078wt_1271
  4. He mentions it needs a bit of a clean. I'm assuming algae. What are the best methods of cleaning a dry tank while avoiding making scratches?
I may remember some more questions in time. :p

Thanks in advance for your help.

1) Chances are it's the sealing ring, common fault on Fluvals

2) Yes

3) No idea without better pictures

4) Fill it with water and use soft cloths/toothbrush. Any stubborn grime can be removed if you drain the tank and use a vinegar solution or surgical spirits

SEALING RINGS AREN'T A LOT OF MONEY I WOULD GO WITH THE 305
I WOULD GET A NEW HEATER
IF THE LIGHTING UNIT SOON IN THE PHOTOS COMES WITH ITS FINE
WHAT I USE IS A WEAK SOLUTION OF MILTON

The best way to clean the glass is to buy a special cleaning sponge for it

Anyone know whether a dish brush would work? Obviously I'd buy a brand new one. I like the toothbrush idea but it'll take me ages!

I've got the tank now and thankfully it doesn't look TOO dirty, though I havent had a look at it under the lights yet.

Anyone? I'm going shopping very shortly and it'd be nice to be able to get everything I need in one trip.

Anything soft will work, you don't want to scratch the glass. If there's marks that won't come off with a soft cloth or toothbrush (kids ones are best) then use the vinegar/surgical spirits method.
