Bought A Female Any Advise On Prep For Her Arival

I have a 60L tank. Temp is 24 all cycled. 9 platys in there. Is there anything special needed for my Betta? How do I introduce her? What food will she need and how many times a day. Will she be ok with fish flake?

I wanted to get 3 neon tetras to finish off my tank. Are they ok to introduce after she's already been in there?

Hi there.

The Betta should be fine with Platys. They should all swim fine. In my experience all Bettas have different behaviours. The Betta may be a little nippy, then again may not. You'll just have to wait and see.
Just introduce her as you would a normal fish, float the bag... use a drip system to introduce the water. She may eat flake, if she doesn't just buy some Betta pellets.

Neon tetra usually like to be in a group of 5 or more. Also, the Betta can still become aggressive even if she doesn't show aggression right away. I'ts not usually recommended to be mixed with peaceful community species. Also, they may jump - lids are recommended.

They're just common things that can happen, but it might work out fine... you just have to try it.

your 9 platies are uickly going to overrun you with fry

as for the Betta arriving, keep the room dark whilst you acclimatise her and take an hour or 2 to do this

Yeah was thinking that about the fry. Would the Betta eat the fry?

^ Again, depends on the Betta. I have a Male Crown Tail Betta in my Endler's Breeding tank which is only 40L and there are probably 100 Endler's with fry. He doesn't touch them.

My bettas are in with platy fry and don't touch them

i have 14 females in with Swordtails and they never touch there fry
